McDonald’s scented billboards trigger cravings for french fries
The fast food chain is luring people to its stores by pumping the smell of fries from giant blank billboards.
Blank billboards trigger cravings by smell alone / McDonald's
McDonald’s Netherlands has created an aromatic billboard that diffuses the scent of french fries to trigger food cravings.
The blank billboards are devoid of any McDonald’s branding or products, playing on the fact that the smell of McDonald’s is as recognizable as its golden arches.
Packets of fries have been inserted into the billboard and ventilators distribute the smell through small holes. Passersby need to get within 5 meters of the billboard to catch a whiff. The boards have been strategically placed within 200 meters of McDonald’s.
TBWA\Neboko is the agency behind the campaign, which can be found in Utrecht and Leiden.
