World Creative Rankings 2024: meet the most-awarded ECDs in the world
DDB Chicago’s Colin Selikow tops this year’s list of the best executive creative director in the industry.

This week, we are sharing the People lists from the World Creative Rankings 2024, celebrating the creatives responsible for last year’s most-awarded campaigns. Yesterday, we looked at the CCO listings, where Debbi Vandeven, global chief creative officer at VML, came in at number 1.
Today, we’re turning our attention to the ECD rankings, which are headed up by Colin Selikow.
Selikow, who climbed to the top spot from a 64th place finish the year before, is the executive creative director at DDB Chicago, the most-awarded agency in the US and the second-most-awarded agency in the world, and is credited for work including Skittles’ ‘Apologize The Rainbow’ (the most-awarded campaign last year) as well as Coors Light’s ‘Chillboards’ (sixth-most-awarded campaign).
Serviceplan Group ECDs Lorenz Langgartner and Franz Röppischer, who were joint 27th in last year’s rankings, have jumped to second place in 2024, the agency taking the title of the best creative shop in EMEA for the second year in a row, with four pieces of its work featuring in the top 100 of the world’s most-awarded campaigns list, including its smart tactile graphics display for visually impaired people, the Dot Pad.
Publicis Italy’s Andrey Tyukavkin (10th last year) is now the world's fourth-most-awarded ECD, and Ogilvy’s Daniel Fisher (8th last year) rounds out the top five.
The World Creative Rankings are compiled by exhaustively analyzing the performance of thousands of pieces of creative work across 22 major industry awards programs, including The Drum Awards. (The Drum Awards for Marketing are open for entry, with a deadline of Wednesday, March 6.)
That data is then used to determine the people rankings – the CCOs, ECDs, creative directors, art directors and copywriters responsible for the most creatively awarded work in 2023. Their companies are then ranked, with these rankings including the best agencies, networks and holding companies, which are then split by country and region. The advertisers who fund the world’s most awarded work are also ranked, while the sectors that offer the richest return in creative gongs, whether that be Food & Drink, Automotive, Retail or Charity, are also evaluated.
